Is my boyfriend on Hinge?
Is my boyfriend on Hinge? How to check, and how to read what you find
Hinge calls itself the app designed to be deleted, so finding him there can feel like a broken promise. Here’s why you probably won’t stumble on his profile yourself, what each Hinge clue really means, and how we check Hinge for his photo without ever contacting him.
You can’t look your boyfriend up on Hinge. Hinge says it doesn’t offer a search for specific people, and its Discover feed only shows members whose preferences fit yours and whose preferences you fit. You can ask him, reverse image search his photos, or hear from a friend whose age and location fit his settings. A photo-based search compares his face and city with publicly visible Hinge profiles.
Private & anonymous. We never contact them — and your details are never shared or sold.

How it works
Three steps. About two minutes of your time.
- 1
Tell us who to look for
One clear photo and the city they live or work in is enough to start. Their name and age help us rule out look-alikes.
- 2
We check every app in their area
We search Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Match, and every other app you pick for profiles near that city, with the same checks on each one.
- 3
Read your private report
Any matching profiles, how sure we are about each one, and what we couldn’t confirm. Emailed to you by a guaranteed date.
Why won’t his Hinge profile show up for you?
Hinge’s Discover feed is mutual. If his age range, distance, or dating intentions leave you out, Hinge has no reason to show him to you, even if you live together. That’s why scrolling Hinge yourself, or making an account to look, so rarely settles anything. A friend may have better luck, but only if she fits the settings he chose.
He can also keep people he knows from seeing him. Hinge’s Block List lets members hide from people whose phone number or email they enter, and Hinge says the blocked person isn’t notified.
What can you check for free?
- Ask him directly, at a calm moment. The limit: you’ll hear his answer, which may or may not be the whole story.
- Reverse image search the photos he uses online with Google Lens. The limit: Hinge profiles live in the app, so you’ll mostly find his social accounts.
- Ask a friend on Hinge to keep an eye out. The limit: she’ll only see him if she fits his preferences. In some regions Hinge also blocks screenshots of profiles, so a careful description may be all she can share.
Some shortcuts cost more than they give. Opening his phone or his accounts can be illegal depending on where you live, and a fake profile breaks Hinge’s Community Guidelines. Either one hands him a way to change the subject.
Is it an old Hinge profile from before you met?
Often, yes. Hinge says uninstalling the app doesn’t delete the account, so a profile from his single days can sit there long after he stopped using it. Hinge gives you one unusually good clue for telling old from new: location.
- Hinge doesn’t update location automatically. A profile pinned to the neighborhood of an apartment he left years ago is more likely to be a leftover.
- A neighborhood where he lives or works now suggests the profile was set up or edited recently.
- Photos you can place in your relationship, like a trip you took together or a haircut from last month, mean the profile was updated while you were together.
- A Selfie Verified badge next to photos you know are new points to a current profile, because Hinge ties the badge to the photos on the profile when it was verified.
What does “Active Today” on his Hinge profile mean?
Hinge’s Last Active status shows “Active Now” or “Active Today” next to a profile photo, but only to people viewing him in Discover, Standouts, or Likes You. It’s approximate, and he can hide it. So “Active Today” tells you Hinge was opened that day. It can’t tell you who he talked to or why. A missing status tells you even less.
A paused profile is another trap. Hinge says a paused account isn’t shown to new people, while its owner can keep chatting with existing matches. Paused is not the same as deleted.
What will a Hinge search for your boyfriend show?
Give us one clear photo of him and the city he lives or works in. His name, nicknames, and age range help us rule out look-alikes. We compare his face with publicly visible Hinge profiles near that city, and the $119 Essential package checks Tinder, Bumble, and Badoo at the same time.
Each possible match comes with what lined up, a confidence note, and what we couldn’t confirm. If nothing matches, you get a “nothing found” report listing every app we checked. Your report is guaranteed within 21 days, or 7 days with Express, by a date you see before paying, or a full refund. We can’t see paused or deleted profiles.
If you find him on Hinge, how do you bring it up?
- Write down exactly what you saw: the photos, the prompts, the neighborhood, and the confidence note.
- Start with a detail, not a verdict: “I saw a Hinge profile with your photos and a prompt about our Lisbon trip. Can we talk about it?”
- If he says it’s old, ask him to delete the account, not just the app. Hinge puts Delete Account at the bottom of the settings screen.
- If it looks current, give yourself time before deciding what it means. If you’re worried about how he’ll react, your safety comes first.
