The best cheater buster apps, compared and ranked
We compared seven paid services and the free do-it-yourself route on what you pay, which dating apps get checked, and what happens when nothing turns up. We make CheaterBusting and ranked it first, so the criteria and every competitor fact are on this page for you to check.
The best cheater buster app is the one that checks the apps you’re worried about, using the details you actually have. For one search across many named dating apps from a single photo, paid once, CheaterBusting ranks first on our criteria. OopsBusted is the lowest-cost paid check of Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. Cheaterbuster suits fast results with weekly monitoring, and Social Catfish suits identity checks by email or phone.

How did we rank these cheater finder apps?
We make CheaterBusting, and we put it at number one. Weigh our list with that in mind. To keep it fair, we scored every service against the same six questions, used only facts from each company’s own website, and gave every competitor a real “best for.”
- Named coverage. Does it tell you which dating apps it checks? A published list scored higher than “all major apps” or a platform count.
- Photo matching. Can it compare their face, and on every app it checks? People change names and ages on profiles all the time. Changing a face is much harder.
- Predictable billing. Do you pay once, or is the renewal price on the page before you buy? Pages that contradict each other scored lowest.
- Written promises. Is there a refund rule you can rely on, a delivery date, or both?
- Honest results. Does the report explain how sure it is, and what a no-match does and doesn’t mean?
- Boundaries. Does it stay away from passwords and private accounts, and leave the person alone? Every service here says it does, so this criterion separated nobody.
Speed counted, but only a little. A report in three minutes doesn’t help if it searched the wrong app. We gave no weight to accuracy percentages, “people found today” counters, or review badges on sales pages, because we had no way to check them.
The 8 best apps to catch a cheater, ranked
1. CheaterBusting: best for checking many apps from one photo
We built CheaterBusting to answer one question: does this person have a dating profile near where they live? You give us one clear photo and the city they live or work in, plus a name and age if you have them. We compare that photo with publicly visible profiles on every app you pick, up to all 12, and email you a private report with a confidence note on each possible match.
- Pricing model: one payment, tax included. Essential is $119 for Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and Badoo, and Complete is $169 for all 12, with optional Express delivery ($39) and 30-day re-scan ($49) add-ons. [1]
- Apps named: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Grindr, Badoo, Plenty of Fish, Facebook Dating, Match, Raya, Tantan, and Happn.
- Refunds and renewals: nothing renews. A late report gets a full refund. Otherwise payments are final, including when nothing is found. [2]
- Trade-off: it’s slower, and it costs more than a single search anywhere else on this list. Reports arrive within 21 days, or within 7 days with Express delivery ($39). [1]
- Best for: anyone who wants every major app checked by photo in one go, with nothing to cancel later.
2. OopsBusted: best for a low-cost Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge check
OopsBusted searches Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge from a first or full name, an age range, gender, and city. It shows a preview of the strongest candidates before you pay, and delivered results come as screenshots and profile details. Its no-match report is candid: it lists the apps and area searched, and says a hidden, paused, or newer profile wouldn’t appear. [8] [9]
- Pricing model: one-time. $4.99 for one app or $10.99 for all three. Photo matching is a $9.99 add-on, a statewide search $9.99, a countrywide search $24.99, and a fresh manual recheck starts at $14.99. Its monthly Watch plan wasn’t open to new subscribers when we checked. [8]
- Apps named: Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. [8]
- Refunds and renewals: searches don’t renew. Refunds cover a technical failure or a wrong order reported within 30 days. [10]
- Best for: you suspect one of the big three apps and want the lowest price to check it.
3. Cheaterbuster: best for fast results and weekly monitoring
Cheaterbuster, which was called Swipebuster until a 2018 rebrand, searches from a first name, approximate age, and likely location. A subscription covers one person and includes facial recognition search, dating app search, and weekly re-checks for as long as you stay subscribed. It says most searches finish within minutes. [3] [4] [23]
- Pricing model: $19.99 plus tax for a search, sold as a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel. Checkout shows the renewal price and date; its public pages don’t. [3] [5]
- Apps named: no list published. It describes checking public profile, social, photo, and public-record signals. [4]
- Refunds and renewals: full refund if your first search finds no matching profiles (ask within 30 days). Renewals aren’t refunded, so cancel before the renewal date. [5]
- Best for: you want an answer within minutes and ongoing alerts, and you’re comfortable keeping track of a subscription.
4. Social Catfish: best for checking who someone really is
Social Catfish is a people search and reverse image search service. You can search by name, email, phone number, username, or photo, and its FAQ says results can show the dating sites a person signed up for. It suits identity questions more than app-by-app checks. [6]
- Pricing model: membership. Trials of $5.73 to $6.87 renew at $26.99 to $28.97 every 30 days, depending on the plan, and its terms also list quarterly plans. [6] [7]
- Apps named: none listed. [6]
- Refunds and renewals: no refunds once a search has been run or data accessed. Cancel by phone, email, or from your dashboard. [6] [7]
- Best for: catfish checks, or when you have their email address or phone number rather than a photo.
5. CheatEye: best for a quick Tinder-first check
CheatEye, run by Saasvertising LLC, is built around Tinder. You enter a name, age, and location, with an optional photo, and it says most reports are ready in two to three minutes, though full detailed reports can take up to 24 hours. Bumble, Hinge, Happn, and OkCupid are offered as a paid add-on. [11] [12]
- Pricing model: pay per search, priced by region. A search showed as €17.90 when we checked from Europe, so look at checkout for yours. Its optional Radar subscription runs a search every 7 days after a 7-day free trial. [11] [12]
- Apps named: Tinder, plus Bumble, Hinge, Happn, and OkCupid as an add-on. [11]
- Refunds and renewals: no refunds as a rule. It may refund if a technical problem stops you getting results, and it will refund if it doesn’t find the person and you prove within 48 hours that they’re on Tinder. Radar charges aren’t refundable, but you can cancel anytime. [12]
- Best for: you’re fairly sure Tinder is the app that matters and you want an answer in minutes.
6. CheaterScanner: best for a name-only search
CheaterScanner, operated by Z Naturals LLC, cross-references a first name, age, and location with publicly available data. Its FAQ says it doesn’t use facial recognition and doesn’t name the platforms its data relates to. Searches typically finish within 24 hours. [13] [14]
- Pricing model: subscription. Its terms say plans renew automatically each billing period until you cancel, and introductory prices apply only to the first period. We couldn’t find the regular price on its public pages. [14]
- Apps named: none listed. [13]
- Refunds and renewals: a 30-day money-back guarantee if it finds no matching profiles at all. No refund once it returns possible or close matches. Emailed cancellations are processed within 48 hours. [15]
- Best for: you only have a name, age, and city, and you’re fine with a subscription.
7. CheatScanX: best for a written missed-profile refund
CheatScanX searches by full name, age, and city, with optional photos, and says it covers 15+ dating platforms. Billing is the part to read twice. Its checkout lists $17.99 plus tax for one search and says the plan renews monthly until you cancel, while its FAQ lists one-time packages and its terms describe one-time purchases. Its terms name the company only as CheatScanX.com. [16] [17] [18]
- Pricing model: unclear from its own pages, as above. Read the line under the pay button before you buy. [17]
- Apps named: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Match, Plenty of Fish, Coffee Meets Bagel, and The League. [16]
- Refunds and renewals: its terms offer a refund within 30 days if it finds no matching profiles or takes more than 7 days. Its refund page adds a refund if you later find an active public profile it missed on an app it scans. [18] [19]
- Best for: someone who values a written refund promise for missed profiles and will check the billing terms at checkout.
8. Doing it yourself: best for a free first look
Checking on your own costs nothing but time, and it reaches very few apps. Tinder says you can’t search for a specific person, and Hinge shows each member a feed of recommendations, so neither app lets you look someone up by name. [20] [21]
- Pricing model: free.
- Apps named: only the ones you or a friend already use.
- Trade-off: an empty result means very little. A profile can be live and never show up in your feed.
- Best for: a first look before you spend anything.
Is there an AI cheater finder app?
Several tools put AI in their names or their matching, but no app can tell you whether someone is cheating. What they can do is compare the details you give them with profiles they can see, so the useful question is what they compare. Cheaterbuster says its plans include facial recognition search, CheatEye takes an optional photo, and CheaterScanner says it doesn’t use facial recognition. [4] [11] [13]
The App Store also lists apps such as “CheaterBuster AI: AI Checker” from individual sellers rather than the company that runs cheaterbuster.com, with in-app purchases. Check the seller name and the price of each purchase before you pay. [25]
We use AI photo matching on every app we check, and each possible match comes with a confidence note instead of a percentage. Be wary of any tool that promises to detect cheating, or that shows an accuracy score you have no way to check.
What should you look for in a cheater finder website?
Before you compare brands, answer four questions about your own situation. They narrow the list fast.
- Which app are you worried about? If you know it’s Tinder, a narrow search may be enough. If you don’t know, named coverage matters more than speed or price.
- What do you have to search with? A clear, recent photo lets a service match faces. A first name alone turns up look-alikes, especially common names. An email or phone number points to people-search sites.
- Will you remember a renewal date? If not, choose something that charges once, and read the line under the pay button on anything that renews.
- What will you do with the answer? If you plan to raise it with your partner, you want a report that says how sure it is, so you don’t walk in with a look-alike.
Are there free ways to check if someone is on dating apps?
Yes, and they’re worth trying first. None of them involves getting into anyone’s account or tricking them.
- Reverse image search their photos with Google Lens or a similar tool. It shows where a photo appears on the open web, which mostly turns up social accounts that reuse the same picture. [22]
- Search their usernames, and their first name together with their city. People often reuse one handle across sites.
- Ask a friend who already uses dating apps for their own dating to keep an eye out. Don’t ask anyone to sign up just to look.
Two shortcuts are worth skipping. A fake profile breaks Tinder’s Community Guidelines and can turn the conversation into an argument about your honesty. Logging in to their account without permission can be illegal. Some paid tools also show a free preview before checkout; treat it as a teaser, and read the price and renewal terms before you go further. [24]
