Why is Bumble so hard to check?

• No name search. Bumble says you can’t search by name, use a partial spelling, or browse other people’s handles.
• Location comes from his phone. Bumble takes each member’s location from GPS, so who sees his profile depends on where both phones are right now.
• No online status. Bumble doesn’t show when members are online or when they last used the app, so even a friend who finds him can’t tell you if he opened it today.
• No web version. Bumble has shut down its website, so profiles only open in the mobile app and can’t turn up in a Google search.

What can you check for free?

• Ask him calmly. The limit: you’ll hear his answer, which may or may not be the whole story.
• Reverse image search his photos with Google Lens. The limit: Bumble profiles only open in the app, so you’ll find his social accounts instead.
• Ask a friend who dates on Bumble near where he lives or works. If she spots him, she can use “Recommend to a friend.” Bumble says he won’t be notified, but the link only opens inside the Bumble app.

Don’t make a profile to catch him. Bumble’s Community Guidelines don’t allow impersonation or misrepresentation, and going through his phone or accounts can be illegal depending on where you live.

Could his Bumble profile be hidden?

Yes, in two common ways. Snooze Mode hides a profile for 24 hours, 72 hours, a week, or indefinitely while he keeps chatting with existing matches. Incognito Mode, on Premium and Premium+, means only people he has liked can see him, and it keeps him out of handle searches.

Neither one deletes anything. A snoozed profile can come back with one tap, and Bumble says removing the app, or going quiet for a long time, doesn’t delete a profile. If he says “I deleted it,” it’s fair to ask whether he deleted the account.

He says it’s just Bumble BFF. Could that be true?

It depends on where you live. In the US, Canada, and Mexico, Bumble has moved friend-finding into a separate app called BFF, so a profile in the main Bumble app there is a dating profile. In other countries, BFF Mode still sits inside Bumble, so it’s fair to ask which mode the profile was in. Bumble Bizz, the networking mode, is no longer available.

How do you tell an old Bumble profile from a current one?

With no last-seen status, the profile itself carries the timeline. Photos you can place in your relationship outweigh everything else. A city or hometown that matches where he lives now suggests a recent edit. A bio about his current job or plans is newer than one about a past chapter. In the US, Bumble requires photo verification, so a face match there is very likely his own account rather than someone using his pictures.
