What does “no match” mean after a dating app search?

What does an empty report actually tell you?

More than you might think. Your nothing-found report lists every app we checked. On each one, we looked for profiles near the areas you gave us and compared what we found with their photo and details. None of them lined up with the person you described.

Scope matters. If you picked all 12 apps, that’s a broad result. If you picked 4, it tells you about those 4 and nothing about the other 8.

Why can a real profile stay out of view?

Dating apps give members several ways to disappear from new people without deleting anything. We only check what’s publicly visible, and we don’t get around these settings. Each one can keep a real profile out of a search:

• Hidden on Tinder. With Discovery turned off, Tinder stops showing the profile to new people, though people they already liked may still see it. [1]
• Paused on Hinge. A paused account isn’t shown to new people, and its owner can keep chatting with existing matches. [2]
• Snoozed on Bumble. Snooze Mode hides a profile for 24 hours, 72 hours, a week, or indefinitely, while chats with existing matches carry on. [3]
• Incognito on Bumble. Premium members can turn on Incognito mode, which shows them only to people they’ve liked. [4]
• Set to another city. Tinder’s Passport™ Mode lets members place themselves in a different city, and Hinge doesn’t update a member’s location automatically. [5] [6]
• Deleted. Once an account is deleted, Tinder and Bumble both say the profile is no longer visible to other members. [7] [8]

Then there are the everyday reasons: a profile made after the day we checked, an app you didn’t include in your order, or photos and details that differ a lot from what you gave us.

Could they delete a profile and come back later?

Yes, and the apps make it easy. Tinder is testing a feature in select markets that lets people who deleted their account in the last 90 days sign up again and restore their name, age, and gender. Bumble says a deleted account can be restored for up to 28 days. A profile that’s gone this week can be back next month. [7] [9] [8]

What should you do after a nothing-found report?

• Check the apps listed. If an app you were worried about wasn’t in your order, the report says nothing about it.
• Look back at what you entered. An old photo, the wrong city, or a missing work area can keep a real profile from lining up.
• Think about timing. If things were tense when the search ran, a profile may have been snoozed or paused. With the re-scan add-on, a second report checks the same apps 30 days after the first.

Is a no-match result good news?

Often, yes. If you searched because something felt off, an empty report across every app you chose is the best result those apps could have given you that day. Hold it with the same honesty you’d want from a match. It makes it less likely they were using those apps when we looked. It can’t close the question for good.

Does a no-match report get refunded?

No. A nothing-found report is a finished report, and payments are final unless a report misses its guaranteed date. We say so up front so it never comes as a surprise, and our pricing page lays out every rule.
