What can you check for free?

• Ask him, somewhere the kids can’t overhear. The limit: you’ll hear his answer, which may or may not be the whole story.
• Reverse image search the photos he uses online with Google Lens. The limit: Bumble profiles only open in the mobile app, so you’ll find his social accounts instead.
• Look over statements for accounts you share. The limit: purchases in an iPhone app are billed by Apple, and Apple says its charges can show as apple.com/bill and may be grouped, so “Bumble” may never appear. A charge also can’t tell you who used the app.
• Ask a friend who dates on Bumble near where he works. The limit: Bumble uses real-time location, so she’ll only see him if their phones are close and her filters include him.

Signing in to his accounts or putting tracking software on his phone can be illegal depending on where you live, and a fake profile breaks Bumble’s Community Guidelines. Any of these hands him a way to change the subject.

Can he hide a Bumble profile from you?

• Snooze Mode hides his profile for 24 hours, 72 hours, a week, or indefinitely, while he keeps chatting with existing matches.
• Incognito Mode, on Premium and Premium+, means only people he has liked can see him, and it hides his location.
• “Hide me from search” keeps him out of handle searches at any time.

None of these deletes his account. Bumble says removing the app, or going quiet for a long time, doesn’t delete a profile either, and a deleted account can be restored for up to 28 days.

Is it a leftover profile or a current one?

Bumble never shows when someone was last online, so the profile itself has to tell you. You know his life better than anyone, which helps.

• A wedding ring, your children, or places you’ve been as a couple mean the profile was edited during your marriage.
• A job, car, or apartment from before you met points to a leftover profile.
• A city or hometown that matches where he lives now suggests a recent edit.
• In the US, Bumble requires photo verification, so his face on a profile there is very likely his own account rather than a stranger using his photos.

How do you check discreetly when you share everything?
